Grape Varieties

Armenian grape varietals like Areni, Voskehat, Khndoghni, Kangun and Karmrahyut are still relatively unknown outside of the region. Indigenous to the area and distinct from both the European Old World and New World varietals.

In recent years, recognizing the importance of their indigenous grape varieties, there has been a new determination to combine the excellent terroir and climate with their winemaking skills to produce a range of new wines, now truly world-class. Thanks to unique features of ancient indigenous Armenian varieties, mountains and rocky Armenian terroir, and warming sun, Armenian wine is enriched with exclusive taste and a bouquet of aromas.

At the cutting edge of winemaking, Armenia is now being recognized worldwide with Armenian wines, winning prizes in international wine competitions.
